About Laura

Laura Robinson

Urban Planner

As a Master of Planning Urban Development student at Toronto Metropolitan University, I'm passionate about accessible, inclusive and sustainable-focused planning that promotes public and active transportation. Having lived, worked, and studied in several of Canada’s major cities, I have a diverse perspective and a deep curiosity about how urban systems shape everyday life.
I developed a foundation in social systems, power relations, and human-centred research at Carleton University, completing an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Sociology. Earlier in my career, I trained in digital design at Vancouver Film School and spent over a decade working in video, motion, graphic design and e-learning. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas, support community engagement, and translate planning goals into accessible, compelling narratives. I am guided by values of collaboration, adaptability, and data-driven, people-centred design, and I am motivated to help build inclusive, resilient urban environments where diverse communities can thrive.

Continual Growth & Development

I’ve been fascinated by the world of visual art ever since I was a youngen, pencil in hand. I’m constantly exploring new techniques, discovering fresh inspiration, paying attention to trends, and finding new ways to evolve my artistic style.

My creative journey is an ongoing adventure filled with wonder and imagination! The greatest work I’ll ever have is a colorful life experience that is representative of what gives me meaning. This shows in my work and I’m excited to bring that sparkle to new projects!
